Job description

Our client is prominent in the shipping and logistics industry, providing core services in air freight, sea freight, customs clearance / port operations, haulage / trucking, oil and gas logistics, marine logistics, and protocol services.

We are seeking a Sales and Business Development Manager who will lead the Sales Champion lead for the team with deep industry knowledge to deliver sustainable revenue growth.

The preferred candidate will be at the forefront of international freight solutions , shaping strategies that impact key industries like Oil & Gas, FMCG, and Telecoms. He / she is also expected to take ownership of high-value accounts, build strategic partnerships , and unlock opportunities in a competitive market.

Requirements

The requirements of the role include the following :

  • Develop sales action plan and strategies to achieve the company’s Sales and Marketing goals and increase revenue.
  • Identify new business opportunities and generate sales leads.
  • Identify and implement strategies for achieving the company’s sales target through effective planning and budgeting.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of marketing plans.
  • Gather market and customer information, network with major players in the Oil and Gas Industry, FMCGs, Telecommunication industry, etc., and decision makers, and provide feedback on industry trends.
  • Develop strategies and budgetary requirement forecasts to grow sales and profit targets for existing and new clients.
  • Develop field sales action plans for improved sales performance, identifying marketing opportunities and market requirements and building a customer database based on the company’s clients’ market niche.
  • Manage key accounts to meet / exceed targets related to revenue growth activities, profit margin, sales, customer retention, and customer acquisition; generate key account performance reports weekly.
  • Regularly visit assigned existing accounts, validating our service levels, and develop new revenue streams
  • Responding to customer needs : exploring specific needs, anticipating new opportunities, developing client-specific interphases for continuity, and managing the sales process from opportunity identification to winning business.
  • Maintain a current and accurate knowledge of competitor products, services, rates or pricing strategies, clientele, and market share. Using this highlight to promote the organisation's market share by recommending competitive selling prices.
  • Monitor competitors’ activity, evaluate key competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, and recommend any necessary tactical action monthly.
  • Develop and maintain profitable relationships with all customers and with all stakeholders, and promptly resolve all customer-service problems.
  • Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly time-phased reports on achievement and activities for management information and generate a progress report on sales and business volume targets from the sales data and trends.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or any related field .
  • A Master’s degree (MBA) is an added advantage, especially for leadership / business development roles.
  • The candidate must have at least 8 to 10 years of relevant experience, with five (5) years specifically in the Shipping & Logistics industry.
  • The candidate should also have a solid understanding of International Freight Forwarding.
  • Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (CILT) – local or international.
  • Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) .
  • FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding will be an added advantage.
  • APICS / ASCM Certification.
  • Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) or other Sales & Business Development certifications (to strengthen the sales angle).
  • INCOTERMS & IATA training certifications.
  • SKILLS REQUIRED : Ideal candidate must have :

  • Good business sense
  • A deep understanding of Sales and Business Development principles
  • Must have achieved obvious results in sales and development with evidence of continuous growth, especially in the freight forwarding industry.
  • Good communication skills and must be able to speak with a diverse range of prospective clients- varying in size, industry, and business model.
  • Good knowledge of INCOTERMS and its applications.
  • Evidence of successful revenue growth in past roles.
  • Demonstrated network in Oil & Gas, FMCG, or Telecom industries .
  • Proven negotiation and deal-closing skills .

  • Ability to develop go-to-market strategies that unlock new business.
  • Skilled in managing C-suite relationships and influencing decision-makers.
  • Adept at forecasting, budgeting, and reporting sales performance .
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams to deliver client solutions.
