Position Overview
A high-end Lagos restaurant, pioneering innovative Asian-Nigerian cuisines, where bold West African flavours meet refined Asian techniques. The restaurant is seeking an Assistant Manager who serves as the right hand to the General Manager and a key driver of daily operational excellence. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for ensuring seamless service, upholding the highest standards of guest satisfaction, and leading the front-of-house team with passion and precision. This role is ideal for an ambitious hospitality professional with a keen eye for detail and a drive to grow within an expanding restaurant group.
About the Role
Operational Leadership
Co-manage daily restaurant operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service during all shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Supervise and support the host team, servers, bartenders, and captains to ensure Tar Tar’s service protocols are executed flawlessly.
Assist in managing floor plans and table rotation to optimise guest flow and maximise revenue.
Oversee opening and closing procedures, ensuring the restaurant is always presentation-perfect.
Team & Culture
Assist the General Manager in training, mentoring, and motivating the front-of-house team.
Provide real-time coaching to service staff on menu knowledge, service etiquette, and upselling techniques.
Participate in scheduling and conducting pre-shift briefings.
Guest Experience
Act as a primary point of contact for guests, proactively addressing any concerns and ensuring complete satisfaction. Resolve issues with grace and efficiency.
Lead by example on the floor, maintaining a visible presence and engaging with guests to build rapport and gather feedback.
Uphold and enforce all health, safety, and sanitation standards to ensure full compliance with regulations.
Administrative Support
Assist the General Manager with administrative duties, including inventory management, stock-taking, and processing invoices.
Help monitor and control operational costs, particularly related to front-of-house supplies and labour.
Requirements
About You
You have a BSc / HND in Hospitality, Business, or a related field
You have 3-4 years of experience in a supervisory role (e.g., Restaurant Supervisor, Captain Waiter) within a high-volume, upscale restaurant or luxury hotel environment.
You have Impeccable personal presentation and professional communication skills.
You have a deep understanding of fine-dining service standards, wine, and beverage etiquette.
You are flexible to work a schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
You have exceptional problem-solving skills and a calm, composed demeanour in high-stress situations.
