We're partnering with an independent E&P company seeking a Lab Technician to support cementing operations through precise testing, quality control, and data management in Port Harcourt. If you have strong expertise in cement testing, laboratory procedures, and quality assurance, this is your opportunity to ensure safe and effective cementing operations.
What You'll Do
Laboratory Testing & Quality Control
- Conduct cement slurry testing including density, viscosity, fluid loss, and compressive strength tests
- Perform API RP 10B standard tests for cement systems and additives
- Test and verify cement blend properties before field deployment
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment including consistometers, pressure cells, and viscometers
- Document all test results accurately in laboratory information systems
Sample Analysis & Reporting
Prepare cement samples according to job specifications and field requirementsAnalyze test data and identify deviations from specificationsGenerate detailed laboratory reports for cementing engineers and field personnelMaintain sample inventory and ensure proper storage conditionsSupport pre-job and post-job cement analysis activitiesQuality Assurance & Compliance
Ensure all testing procedures comply with API standards and company protocolsMaintain laboratory cleanliness, safety, and housekeeping standardsVerify quality of cement materials, additives, and mix waterSupport HSE requirements and participate in safety meetingsTrack and report non-conformances and quality issuesCoordination & Support
Collaborate with cementing engineers on slurry design optimizationProvide technical support to field operations teamsAssist in troubleshooting cement performance issuesParticipate in pre-job planning and post-job evaluation meetingsMaintain laboratory supplies and chemical inventoryWhy This Role Matters

Requirements
Who You Are
National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related science fieldMinimum 3+ years' experience in cement testing, laboratory operations, or related roles in oil & gasKnowledge of API RP 10B cement testing standards and proceduresProficiency with laboratory equipment and testing instrumentsUnderstanding of cementing operations and well construction processesWhat You Bring
