About the Role :
This role leads the coordination and execution of field activities and other associated processes towards the accomplishment of KPIs for the Nigeria Trees Program within the environs of Niger, Nasarawa, Plateau, and Bauchi States.
Responsibilities :
Essential Function 1 : Recruitment and Training of Field Team
Recruitment and hiring of seasonal staff (e.g., Field Assistants, Nursery Managers)
Train, motivate, mentor, and evaluate team members through direct and / or indirect management of seasonal staff (e.g., Field Assistants, Nursery Managers).
Support farmers' mobilization and enrolment to drive the 50% adoption target within the served communities
Plan and coordinate farmers' training to ensure all enrolled farmers are trained
Essential function 2 : Community Entry and Nursery Scouting
Conduct meetings with relevant key community leaders to raise awareness of tree program objectives and offerings to garner community support
Conduct scouting visits to communities to identify suitable nursery locations for tree raising
Design a site map to ensure nursery locations are accessible and optimize resources for field assistants
Identify drop locations at the pod / site level for the delivery of nursery inputs, seedlings, and other materials
Liaise with Government officials to obtain necessary approvals and operational support during the season
Essential function 3 : Nursery Management
Perform frequent field visits to monitor training activities, solve problems, and guide trial direction.
Ensure compliance with nursery management practices, guidelines, and protocols, e.g., seed pre-treatment, pot filling, planting, watering, weeding, and pruning.
Monitor field KPIs and trial performance on a daily / weekly basis, making necessary follow-ups and quality checks.
Review nursery performance information daily and prioritize support to poor-performing locations in a timely manner
Regularly submit nursery performance data at least twice a week
Troubleshoot problems encountered by Field Assistants and Nursery Managers.
Essential Function 4 : Distribution of Tree Seedlings
Plan site distribution to ensure that distribution is completed timely and effective manner
Lead the distribution of healthy tree seedlings to farmers, ensuring that farmers receive the correct number of seedlings, either free or paid for
Supervise completion of all nursery distribution tools such as TGL Collection sheet, vouchers, nursery manager payment sheet, etc
Complete distribution reconciliation for all nurseries in a timely manner with accompanying evidence
Capture and report farmer adoption data at the nursery level
Capture the distribution process in media formats and media release consent forms
Essential function 5 : Post distribution
Follow up with the tree group leaders to ensure last-mile delivery for tree seedlings
Conduct field visits to observe and document farmer planting
Support post-planting care training for farmers where relevant
Coordinate the clean-up of all your nurseries
Essential function 6 : Program Execution
Coordinate trials and mini projects as assigned on different aspects of the tree program and document results
Prepare reports on successfully completed trials, capturing results and recommendations, where relevant
Provide the program lead with operational insights and feedback in an actionable way
Essential function 7 : Document completion, training, and meetings
Attend all department training as required, including refresher training, and review all relevant training materials
Attend all meetings, including ad hoc meetings, for the field team
Complete weekly work plans and submit timely to your manager
Complete check-in documents on a weekly / bi-weekly basis and submit timely to your manager
Could manage up to 7 people at job levels 1 - 2
Requirements

Education : Higher National Diploma, preferably in Agriculture or related fields
Experience : 1-2 years of relevant work experience
