Job Description
Accountant (5 years min experience) Role : Manage day-to-day accounting functions and support WDCL’s financial operations. The accountant maintains accurate financial records for ongoing projects, processes invoices and payments, and assists in financial reporting. This position ensures that transactions (invoices, payments, journal entries) are recorded correctly prepared and ensured they are closed out especially from the client’s end, also the general ledger and that bills and receipts are processed in a timely manner.
- Key Responsibilities : Maintain the company’s accounting system and general ledger with oversight of journal entries, accounts payable and accounts receivable. Process vendor invoices, employee reimbursements, and customer billings; ensure timely issuance of invoices and follow-up on receivables. Perform periodic bank and balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies. Prepare routine financial statements and reports (monthly / quarterly profit & loss, balance sheet) under the guidance of the Senior Accountant. Coordinate with project and procurement teams to track project costs and facilitate budget monitoring. Assist auditors and tax consultants during financial audits and statutory filings.
- Requirements : Bachelor’s degree in accounting. 5 years of accounting experience (oil & gas or EPC project experience is a plus). Strong knowledge of Nigerian accounting standards and tax regulations (e.g. VAT, WHT). Proficiency in accounting software (ERP or QuickBooks) and Excel. Attention to detail and strong numerical skills. ICAN / ACCA finalist or equivalent preferred. Lagos-based.
