Our client is a fast-growing financial service firm based in Lagos, Nigeria with operations across Africa.
The Company is seeking a visionary Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead its technology strategy and execution. The successful candidate will shape the long-term technology roadmap, build resilient and scalable systems, and foster a culture of engineering excellence. This is a hands-on leadership role where strategic oversight and technical depth go hand in hand.
Key Responsibilities
§ Define and execute a multi-year technology strategy aligned with business goals.
§ Lead the design and delivery of secure, scalable, and high-performance systems.
§ Oversee architecture standards, system resilience, and critical code / design reviews.
§ Partner with product and design teams to deliver customer-driven solutions.
§ Champion engineering best practices : automation, observability, testing, and reliability.
§ Drive security and compliance initiatives in line with global standards.
§ Recruit, mentor, and retain top-tier engineering talent while building high-performing teams.
§ Manage budgets, vendors, and cloud resources effectively.
§ Represent the technology agenda with external partners, vendors, and regulators.
Requirements
§ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
§ Master’s degree (MSc / MBA) in Technology Management, Engineering, or Business Administration
§ 10-15+ years of proven engineering / technical leadership experience leading a highly efficient team
§ Proven track record delivering high-throughput, low-latency systems at scale (ideally within fintech or payments).
§ Hands-on expertise in Java / JVM technologies (e.g., Spring Boot, Micronaut, Quarkus) and distributed systems.
§ Strong experience with modern cloud-native infrastructure (AWS or similar, Kubernetes, IaC, CI / CD)
§ Familiarity with data streaming, databases, caching, and observability tools.
§ Demonstrated ability to build secure, compliant systems in regulated environments.
§ Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to align technical and business priorities.
§ Demonstrated proficiency in Kotlin, Go, or Python, coupled with strong experience in front-end technologies and fraud / risk system
Benefits
Compensation : Base Pay N5m per month + other benefits.
