Job Purpose
The Logistics Supervisor oversees WDCL’s transportation and vehicle fleet operations to ensure the smooth delivery of materials and personnel nationwide. The role involves managing company vehicles (cars, trucks, etc.), maintenance and repair schedules, and ensuring all transport activities comply with safety and regulatory standards. The Logistics Supervisor closely monitors drivers, plans delivery routes, and maintains accurate records of vehicle use, fuel consumption, and dispatches.
Key Responsibilities
- Transportation Coordination : Coordinate daily transportation needs and assign company vehicles or external carriers as required.
- Dispatch Management : Monitor and log all material dispatches and receipts to ensure accuracy and accountability.
- Route Planning : Plan and schedule journeys, verifying that drivers follow approved routes and adhere to safety procedures.
- Fleet Maintenance : Oversee routine vehicle maintenance and emergency repairs to ensure fleet reliability and operational efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance : Maintain up-to-date records of vehicle registrations, insurance, and maintenance history, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Performance Reporting : Provide regular reports on fleet status (availability, usage, downtime) to management and recommend cost-saving or process improvement initiatives.
- Driver Supervision : Supervise and guide drivers, ensuring compliance with safety, discipline, and performance standards.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.3–5 years of experience in logistics or fleet management.Proven expertise in transportation coordination, vehicle maintenance, and fleet supervision.Good knowledge of Lagos road networks and freight rates.Skills and Competencies :
Strong organizational, team leadership, and communication skills.Proficiency with logistics management software and MS Office applications.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Ability to multitask, prioritize, and deliver under pressure.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
