A coalition of multinational corporates and global partners has launched is launching the most ambitious effort yet to make commodity supply chains from West Africa more sustainable, transparent, and fair. The initiative spans the full value chain — from farmers and cooperatives to traders, off-takers, and major buyers.
The coalition is seeking a Senior Data Product Manager (consultancy role) to help lay the foundations for a trusted, sector-wide data platform that links sustainability programs with commodity procurement.
This is an initial 3-month, part-time to near full-time engagement (25–40 hrs / week) focused on scoping and design, with strong potential for extension.
What you'll do
You will lead the scoping and design phase that sets the groundwork for a sector flagship system.
1. Understand the Now
- Define system objectives and success metrics (efficiency, transparency, scalability).
- Map the current data landscape : tools, flows, gaps, and pain points.
- Gather user stories from cooperatives, traders, corporates, NGOs, and buyers.
2. Design the Future
Outline target-state architecture options and integration pathways.Recommend scalable, interoperable technology approaches.Draft streamlined workflows and operating models that enable neutrality and trust.3. Prepare for Build
Translate findings into clear business and technical requirements.Benchmark against best practices and existing solutions.Develop a phased roadmap with quick wins, pilots, and scale-up.Provide guidance on resources, governance, and change management.Requirements
Essential8-10+ years' experience in engineering, data science, or related field.Prior CTOs / Tech leads with experience in either agriculture, big data, and / or an understanding of (West) African culture are highly encouraged to apply.Proven track record in multi-stakeholder data governance, access control, and interoperability.Proficiency in API integration and data exchange standards.Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skillsExceptional communication skills with senior international stakeholders, e.g. corporate CEOsBusiness / Native Fluency in English.DesirableUnderstanding of GIS, traceability, or certification systems.Proficiency in FrenchBenefits
Contract Details
