The Role
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on General Manager to oversee all operational, financial, and strategic aspects of RapJoint Lagos. The GM will lead a small, passionate team, ensure exceptional guest experiences, drive revenue growth, and uphold brand integrity. This role reports to the Founder / CEO and collaborates closely with the Programming, Marketing, Security, and Finance teams.
Responsibilities
Oversee daily venue operations, including show production, artist relations, front-of-house, bar / kitchen, listening lounge, security, and maintenance.
Coordinate with Programming to curate compelling lineups, solo performances, battles, open mics, and community events.
Ensure compliance with local regulations, licensing, health and safety standards, and insurance requirements.
Maintain high standards of guest experience, service quality, and brand consistency.
Build and nurture partnerships with artists, managers, sponsors, media, and community organizations.
Drive marketing alignment with promotional campaigns, ticketing, and social media to optimize turnout.
Implement robust security, risk management, and crisis-response protocols.
Generate regular reporting on KPIs (attendance, revenue, average spend, turnover, customer satisfaction).
Requirements
5+ years in venue / operations management, hospitality, entertainment, or a related field; prior experience in music / hip-hop scenes is strongly preferred.
Proven track record of P&L management, budgeting, and cost control.
Strong leadership with the ability to motivate, develop, and manage a diverse team.
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Exceptional guest relations, communication, and negotiation abilities.
Deep understanding of Lagos / Nigerian music culture, artists, promoters, and venue ecosystem.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with a hands-on, “roll up your sleeves” approach.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and event-heavy schedules.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Hospitality, Music Industry, or related field preferred; MBA a plus.
Proficiency with venue management software, POS systems, ticketing platforms, and basic accounting tools.
