  • The Soil Values program is recruiting one (1) intern for Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning to join the Monitoring, Evaluation team, with one position available per country.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of the project's MELS system by assisting in the development and refinement of indicators, contributing to the setting of targets, supporting the monitoring of project progress, ensuring accurate and timely data collection, and helping draft quarterly and annual reports.
  • Assist the technical team in developing program goals and objectives, MELS systems, tools, and strategies (including database(s)), and provide monitoring data to support decisions on project performance and future project direction.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports on project results, ensuring they align with project goals and objectives, under the guidance of the project management team.
  • Work with technical and management teams to support the identification of key project activities, processes, and outcomes to document, and help maintain systems to capture lessons learned and best practices.
  • Assist in the development of results chains for project activities that align with the project's theory of change.
  • Support the creation of a results monitoring and measurement plan to track the performance of results chains.
  • Provide support in designing standard data collection and survey tools according to project needs, and assist in pre-testing and adjustments to ensure uniform understanding.
  • Assist in planning and executing baseline, mid-term, and annual surveys, as well as impact evaluation studies at the household level.
  • Support data collection processes by advising on methodologies and ensuring quality data entry into the project database.
  • Maintain and organize data storage and quality, and assist with basic data analysis as required.
  • Support the program's communications team, when required, in producing content or contributing to internal and external communication efforts at the country level.
  • Provide general assistance to the country team by executing additional tasks as assigned.
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in one of the following specialties : agro-economics, agronomy, economics, project management, rural development, sociology, education sciences, statistics, demography. All other related disciplines will also be considered;
  • At least two (2) years' experience in the chosen field;
  • Theoretical and operational knowledge of monitoring, evaluation and learning;
  • Proficiency of the local language;
  • Have a good knowledge of one or other of the following aspects : theories of change, adaptations to climate change, food security, soil health, etc;
  • Good command of the Microsoft suite (Excel, World, Powerpoint, etc.) and comfortable with presentation tools;
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis software : SPSS, STATA, R, Kobocollect. Mastery of these programs would be an asset;
  • Excellent command of English as a working language, along with proficiency in at least one local language. Knowledge of French is an advantage;
  • Ability to write, analyze and interpret statistical results;
  • Willingness to work in a multicultural, interdisciplinary and regional environment;
  • Willingness to travel frequently to farming areas.
