Job Overview

  • As the Climate Security Lead, you will be tasked with co-designing, and managing the program framework for Surge Africa's newly established project; The Skylark Centre for Climate Security. You will manage the project, conduct research, establish relationship with stakeholders, and carry out important assignments.

    • Job Description & Responsibilities

  • Co-design and manage the program framework of the project.
  • Carry out research and data analysis, conduct field visit and harmonize findings into a report.
  • Support the establishment of a website, and ensure strategic communication of the project among allies and relevant stakeholders. Manage any social media account related to the project.
  • Propose innovative and cutting-edge strategies on ways to scale the program, keeping in trend with emerging issues and relevance of intervention to the sector.
  • Manage all aspects of the project

    • Qualifications

  • You must be a data and research analyst with at least 3 years of experience in fields of climate security, crisis prevention, peace building and / or human security.
  • Have a reasonable knowledge and experience with climate, energy and security politics.
  • Have measurable and demonstrable experience crafting and conceptualizing solution-oriented dialogues focused on a high-level audience.
  • A creative thinker that can develop strategic communications initiative.
  • A multi-tasker that works well both alone and as part of a team.
  • Must be willing to travel locally and across regions.
