Our client is on the mission to help preserve the connection between African children and Africa’s rich history, by giving children a modern and positive perspective of African history and culture; and providing them with an environment to explore the subject of African history in an immersive way, that is interactive, exciting, and yet highly educational. They aim to nurture a generation proud of their roots and empowered by knowledge. Through programs like summer camps and essay competitions, interactive history tours, and many more, they inspire young minds to explore and celebrate Africa’s cultural heritage. They seek to hire a disciplined, creative, and detail-oriented professional to manage social media platforms, coordinating weekly newsletters etc.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Manage Social Media Platforms

  • Oversee and grow Learn History Africa’s presence across various social media channels by creating and sharing engaging content.
  • Develop and implement a content calendar to ensure a consistent and impactful online presence.
  • Monitor and analyze social media performance metrics to refine strategies.
  • 2. Coordinate Weekly Newsletters

  • Draft, design, and send out a weekly newsletter highlighting key events, historical facts, and updates from Learn History Africa.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure newsletters are informative and engaging.
  • 3. Coordinate Annual Essay Competitions

  • Coordinate all aspects of essay competitions, including outreach, participant engagement, judging processes, and awards distribution.
  • Ensure a seamless experience for participants and uphold the quality and integrity of the competition.
  • 4. Support Program Logistics

  • Provide logistical support for events such as summer camps, workshops, and other educational programs.
  • Develop educational materials and resources to support Learn History Africa’s initiatives.
  • 5. Support Program Resourcing and Partnerships

  • Drive the organization’s efforts to mobilize resources to support the implementation of its programs including essay competitions, thematic summer camps, history learning webinars, school history clubs, etc.
  • Contribute to the development of relevant partnerships for the organization and interface with current and potential partners and sponsors on behalf of the organization
  • Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with an excellent academic record from a top university.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Proven experience managing social media platforms (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, Twitter) and creating content.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with email marketing tools like Mailchimp is a plus.
  • Familiarity with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva or Adobe Suite) is advantageous.
