Job Summary

The Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing all financial management, reporting, and control functions within Katsu MFB. The role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial data, compliance with CBN regulations, and alignment with internal and external audit standards.

The position will lead the budgeting, treasury, and performance reporting processes, providing strategic insights to management for effective decision-making. The Finance Manager will also support business expansion, cost optimization, and capital efficiency across the bank. The Finance Manager shall be the Chief Revenue Assurance Officer of the bank.

What you will be doing

1. Financial Planning & Reporting

  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans in alignment with the bank’s strategic objectives.
  • Produce timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with CBN, NDIC, and tax reporting requirements.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide management with actionable insights on financial performance

2. Accounting & Control

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including reconciliations, postings, and financial record-keeping.
  • Maintain an effective internal control environment that safeguards the bank’s assets.
  • Ensure accurate financial entries and compliance with IFRS and local GAAP standards.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure prompt closure of audit queries.
  • 3. Treasury & Liquidity Management

  • Manage liquidity and cash flow to meet operational and lending requirements.
  • Optimize fund utilization and ensure compliance with statutory liquidity ratios.
  • Maintain effective relationships with correspondent banks and financial partners.
  • Prepare periodic cash flow forecasts and treasury performance reports.
  • 4. Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure all CBN, NDIC, FIRS, and other statutory returns are accurate and submitted within stipulated deadlines.
  • Monitor compliance with prudential guidelines, capital adequacy, and other financial ratios.
  • Support regulatory inspections and maintain readiness for supervisory reviews.
  • 5. Strategic Financial Management

  • Provide strategic financial insights to management on business performance, profitability, and cost optimization.
  • Support business development teams with financial modeling, pricing, and investment appraisals.
  • Partner with leadership to design performance metrics that align finance outcomes with organizational goals.
  • 6. Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Supervise and mentor finance team members, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Collaborate with other departments (Risk, Credit, Operations) to ensure smooth financial processes.
  • Drive automation and digital transformation initiatives within the Finance function
  • Requirements

    Special Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • 5–7 years’ experience in financial management, preferably in a microfinance or commercial bank.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, tax laws, and financial reporting standards.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Professional qualifications (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is mandatory.
  • Understanding of CBN regulatory requirements and MFB operational frameworks.
