Job description

RAIS is seeking to appoint a passionate, experienced Special Educational Needs & Disability Coordinator (SENDCo) with a clear vision of excellent, inclusive provision to join our fantastic team.

RA International School :

RA International School (RAIS) is a large, mainstream international primary school with a dedicated Learning Support Unit and specialist teaching team. The school currently has over 500 students on roll from 3-11 years of age. The SEND register reflects a wide range of learning needs. Our students are the children of local and expatriate staff who work for Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Limited (NLNG). The school uses the National Curriculum for England for English and Mathematics alongside the International Primary Curriculum (IPC). RAIS is situated in a well-kept company residential area which houses both the school staff and families working for the company.

The school proudly received the NASEN Award for International Provision 2022.

We are seeking a SENDCo who :

  • is a native-level English speaker
  • holds a B.Ed. or BA / BSc and PGCE in Primary Teaching or Special Education with Qualified Teacher Status
  • has extensive experience of teaching primary age children with a range of needs - including severe learning difficulties.
  • can coordinate, implement and lead high quality interventions for SEND children
  • is able to strategically develop our SEND policy and practice
  • is able to lead and develop the SEND team and the wider staff
  • knows how to form strong relationships with other support specialists and with parents / carers
  • is child-centred and passionate about learning
  • possesses a positive team-spirit, creativity, resilience and a good sense of humour

    The successful applicant will be offered a two year contract in the first instance with an option for annual renewal thereafter.
