We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled E & I Project Lead to oversee the execution of Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) projects within the Oil & Gas and Engineering, Procurement, Installation, and Commissioning (EPIC) sector in Lagos.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading project delivery from planning through execution and commissioning, ensuring compliance with technical standards, safety requirements, project timelines, and budgetary constraints. The role requires strong leadership capability and deep technical expertise in electrical and instrumentation systems within complex oil and gas project environments.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Execution & Leadership
• Lead end-to-end execution of Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) projects from engineering phase through commissioning and handover.
• Develop detailed project execution plans, work breakdown structures (WBS), and delivery schedules.
• Drive project implementation in alignment with EPC/EPIC contractual requirements.
• Ensure all project milestones are achieved within approved timelines, scope, and budget.
2. Engineering Coordination
• Review and interpret electrical and instrumentation design drawings, specifications, single line diagrams (SLDs), loop diagrams, and control philosophies.
• Interface with engineering teams to resolve design discrepancies and ensure constructability.
• Ensure engineering deliverables comply with project scope and client requirements.
3. Installation, Testing & Commissioning
• Supervise electrical installation activities including cabling, termination, panel installation, instrumentation tubing, and field devices.
• Oversee pre-commissioning and commissioning activities including loop checks, functional testing, calibration, and system integration.
• Ensure smooth handover to operations with complete documentation and certification.
4. Project Planning & Control
• Develop and maintain project schedules using planning tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project where applicable).
• Monitor progress against baseline schedules and implement corrective actions where required.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly project progress reports.
5. Cost & Commercial Management
• Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
• Support cost control initiatives and ensure efficient utilization of resources.
• Review variation orders and support commercial claims where applicable.
• Work closely with procurement and finance teams on project cost tracking.
6. HSE and Compliance
• Enforce strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards across all project sites.
• Conduct risk assessments and ensure implementation of mitigation measures.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEC, IEEE, API where applicable) and client specifications.
• Promote a strong safety culture among site personnel and subcontractors.
7. Team & Stakeholder Management
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams including engineers, supervisors, technicians, and subcontractors.
• Interface with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders on technical and progress matters.
• Conduct site meetings, progress reviews, and technical coordination sessions.
8. Quality Assurance & Control
• Ensure all installation and commissioning activities meet defined quality standards.
• Conduct site inspections and quality audits.
• Ensure proper documentation of test results, inspection reports, and quality records.
9. Documentation & Reporting
• Prepare and submit project documentation including method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and commissioning dossiers.
• Maintain accurate project records for audit and handover purposes.
• Provide technical reports and executive updates to management.
Requirements
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 15–20 years’ experience in Electrical and Instrumentation engineering within the Oil & Gas or EPC industry.
• Strong experience in project execution, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of E&I systems.
• Proven leadership experience managing large-scale industrial or oil & gas projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, control systems, and automation.
• Familiarity with international standards and industry best practices.
• Excellent project management and coordination skills.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex project environments.
• Proficiency in project planning tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
