Job Title : Technical Lead / Manager
Job Purpose
To lead the technical execution of an Oil and Gas EPC Company’s upstream projects , ensuring engineering integrity, operational efficiency, and full compliance with industry standards.
This role requires deep expertise in field development planning, well engineering, production optimization, and asset integrity management . The Technical Lead / Manager will drive innovation, mentor technical teams, and interface with clients and regulators to deliver high-impact, technically sound solutions.
Reporting Relationships
Reports To : General Manager
Direct Reports : Engineers, Technicians, and Project Coordinators
Key Interactions
Internal : Business Development, Operations, HSE, Finance, Supply Chain, and all staff.
External : Clients, Contractors, OEMs, Regulators, and Technical Consultants.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Engineering Management & Execution
Lead the planning, design, and implementation of technical projects across facilities, infrastructure, and systems.
Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
Ensure engineering solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with operational goals.
2. Systems & Infrastructure Oversight
Oversee the design, operation, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and process systems supporting upstream operations.
Implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies to optimize system performance and reliability.
Support the integration of automation, instrumentation, and control systems to enhance operational efficiency.
3. Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensure all technical activities comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., API, ASME, ISO).
Lead technical audits, HAZOPs, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate operational risks.
Maintain documentation and records in line with QA / QC protocols and industry best practices.
4. Strategic Planning & Innovation
Contribute to long-term technical strategy, including technology adoption and continuous process improvement.
Evaluate and recommend new tools, software, and methodologies to strengthen engineering capabilities.
Support feasibility studies, technical evaluations, and proposals for new business opportunities.
5. Team Leadership & Development
Mentor and develop engineering and technical staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
Set performance goals, conduct appraisals, and identify training needs.
Promote collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing across technical teams.
Requirements
Minimum of 8–10 years of industry experience in technical roles within upstream oil and gas, with 2–3 years in a leadership position .
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Petroleum, Chemical, or related discipline).
Master’s degree or MBA is preferred
Certifications in PMP, ISO or Engineering standards are an advantage
Proven experience in technical project management and in leading or managing a team of engineers.
Demonstrated track record of verifiable, high-quality achievements in previous roles.
Proficiency in AutoCAD or Primavera is required.
COREN, and BOSIET certifications are mandatory.
Strong understanding of engineering standards, asset integrity, and operational risk management.
Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
