JOB TITLE : Service Engineer REPORTS TO : Service ManagerSUPERVISES : Service Technicians JOB DESCRIPTIONJOB OVERVIEWThe Service Engineer is responsible for technical oversight, troubleshooting, and maintenance of material handling equipment, including forklifts, warehouse equipment, and industrial machinery. This role requires a strong technical background in servicing, diagnostics, and repair, combined with a business-oriented approach to support after sales, customer satisfaction, and revenue generation. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESTechnical Competence
- Commission, troubleshoot, inspect, maintain, and repair forklifts, warehouse equipment, construction machines, and other industrial solutions.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and health checkups to ensure customer equipment operates at peak efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and training to service technicians, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Develop and implement service best practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer expectations.
- Monitor and improve workshop efficiency, ensuring optimal utilization of personnel and resources.
- Diagnose complex faults using modern diagnostic tools and recommend effective solutions.
- Forecast and manage spare parts inventory, ensuring the availability of fast-moving and routine consumables.
- Prepare and maintain accurate service reports, Work-in-Progress (WIP) logs, and equipment history records.Sales & Customer Engagement
- Support drive for aftersales service revenue, ensuring service operations contribute to the company's profitability.
- Be active in supporting the expansion of the customer base, strengthening relationships with existing clients and acquiring new ones.
- Enhance customer satisfaction by providing expert consultation on proper equipment usage, maintenance, and best practices.
- Collaborate with the sales team to identify and capitalize on service-related business opportunities.
- Monitor and analyze customer feedback and service performance metrics to improve service delivery and market positioning.KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
- Achievement of agreed service revenue and turnover targets.
- Improvement in Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) and reduced return repairs.
- Effective spare parts forecasting and inventory management.
- Timely completion of service jobs with minimal downtimeCOMPETENCY REQUIREMENTAcademic Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.Work Experience
- 2 to 4 years of hands-on experience in forklift and material handling equipment maintenance and repair.Technical & Personal Skills
- Expertise in troubleshooting and servicing forklifts, warehouse equipment, and industrial machinery.
- Strong knowledge of equipment selection, application, installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and modern service technologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting, documentation, and presentations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to interact with customers and internal teams.
