About the Team
The Communications and Experiences team exists to enable understanding, learning, and meaningful connection across the Teach For All network and beyond by curating, creating, and communicating products, experiences, and insights that bring to life our shared purpose, vision, and values. Our work cuts across all aspects of events, learning design and resources, platforms and communication channels, brand / design and promotion, video, and storytelling.
This role reports to the Head of Brand and Design and works closely with a circle of other collaborators who focus on brand and design-related work. They will be the primary designer for the organization, working with close supervision on many projects across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Execution and management of design projects
Styling decks : Creation of new pitch decks and external presentations, and review / refinement of staff-created decksMaintaining and improving core materials (managing periodic updates and the creation of new materials in a variety of editorial layouts and formats)Designing reports, documents, etc. for various audiencesDesign all physical branded materials (swag, signage, gift items)Design all digital assets for external promotion and social mediaProvide design support for video assetsCreate templates, one-off designs, and custom assets / graphics for emails / mass mailingsCreation of infographics and other visuals to convey complex informationAll other design needs as they ariseDesign conceptualization and development
Establish distinct identity for key in-person and virtual events or launches and design all related assetsDevelop visual identity for campaigns, including co-branding with other organizations or network partners when requiredDesign new pages and features for Teach For All sites and revise the design of existing pages as neededDesign and theme custom event websites (using third-party client)Contribute to establishing new visual identity and brand guidance for emerging organizations or initiativesMaintaining brand systems and libraries
Support the creation and upkeep of all templates and guidance in line with our established brand identityTrain and support staff to leverage templates and other brand resources and provide feedback on staff-created materialsMaintain an organized library of design projects, assets and work filesResearch and test new tools for optimizing systemsQualifications
At least 5 years of experience in a design role working across diverse mediums (including but not limited to pitch decks, social media graphics, documents and reports, logos / visual identities, event collateral, web and digital design, etc.)Technical skills required include : proficiency with Adobe Creative suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), Google / Office (docs + slides), Canva, web design (ideally familiarity with drupal plus CSS, html, UX principles). Familiarity with mass mailing platforms and other digital tools preferredGeneral knowledge of graphic design principles, typography, photo retouching (other areas of expertise also welcome)Degree in art / design or equivalent training and work experienceCreative thinking skillsFamiliarity with current digital and social media landscape as well as the broader design landscapeExperience with working collaboratively and building relationships across teams and with external consultants, with the ability to be kind, flexible, and adaptive in a dynamic work environment, while maintaining a very high bar for qualityStrong organizational skills - balancing multiple projects and stakeholders across time zonesAbility to effectively synthesize and accommodate feedback from multiple stakeholdersStrong sense of ownership and ability to operate in a dynamic, evolving, and entrepreneurial environment.
