Job Summary :
The Medical Laboratory Technician will work under the supervision of Medical Laboratory Scientists to ensure smooth workflow in the laboratory. Responsibilities include sample processing, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and adherence to safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Sample Management :
- Receive, label, sort, and process samples (blood, urine, stool, etc.) for analysis.
- Ensure proper centrifugation, aliquoting, and distribution to relevant lab sections.
2. Support Lab Operations :
Assist in preparing reagents, cleaning, and sterilizing glassware and equipment.Maintain lab cleanliness, organization, and biohazard waste disposal.3. Inventory Control :
Monitor stock levels, track reagents / consumables, and notify supervisors of shortages.Store and manage samples / archives as per laboratory SOPs.4. Equipment Maintenance :
Assist in routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of basic equipment (e.g., centrifuges, pipettes).Report equipment malfunctions promptly to technical staff.5. Safety Compliance :
Adhere strictly to infection control, PPE, and waste disposal protocols.Ensure compliance with local and international laboratory safety standards.6. Administrative Support :
Help with data entry, sample tracking, and maintaining accurate records.Support phlebotomy (venipuncture) for sample collection if trained.Requirements :
1. Mandatory Qualification :
Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Certificate from a recognized institution (e.g., School of Medical Laboratory Science, School of Health Technology).No Science Lab Technician certificate holders will be considered.
