Job Summary
The Resident Engineer will be responsible for providing on-site technical leadership and oversight for highway construction projects.
The role involves taking key engineering decisions, interpreting construction drawings, supervising site activities, conducting measurements, and ensuring works are executed in accordance with approved designs, specifications, safety standards, and timelines.
The Resident Engineer will also double as the Work Zone Traffic Control (WZTC) Supervisor for the project.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day on-site engineering supervision of highway construction works.
Interpret and implement approved construction drawings, specifications, and method statements.
Take key technical decisions required for smooth project execution.
Ensure construction works comply with approved designs, contract documents, and engineering standards.
Review and validate site measurements, quantities, and progress reports.
Provide direct supervision of foremen, site engineers, technicians, and other site workforce.
Coordinate construction activities to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion.
Monitor workmanship and material usage to ensure quality and cost control.
Identify construction challenges and propose practical engineering solutions.
Serve as the Work Zone Traffic Control (WZTC) Supervisor on the project.
Ensure proper implementation of traffic management plans during construction.
Coordinate traffic control personnel and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Minimize disruption to road users while ensuring safety of workers and the public.
Enforce site safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards.
Participate in site safety meetings and incident investigations when required.
Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly site progress reports.
Liaise with the Project Manager, consultants, and relevant stakeholders on-site matters.
Support inspections, audits, and handover processes as required.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 12–15 years of post-qualification experience in highway construction and engineering.
