Job Overview :
We are seeking a seasoned Electrical Project Engineer with a strong background in site supervision and electrical systems execution to join our MEP project delivery team in Nigeria. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing on-site electrical works, supervising subcontractors and teams, and ensuring high-quality execution throughout all project stages.
This role includes the review of electrical drawings and engineering documents, ensuring strict compliance with technical specifications and standards, as well as leading the testing, commissioning, and quality assurance processes. The selected candidate will contribute directly to the timely and technically sound delivery of major MEP installations across West Africa.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversee and manage the daily execution of electrical systems, including MV, LV power distribution, lighting, ELV systems, and grounding / earthing systems.
- Supervise and direct electrical site teams and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with project timelines, standards, and safety protocols.
- Conduct detailed technical reviews of electrical drawings, load schedules, single-line diagrams, and specifications, flagging discrepancies and initiating corrective actions.
- Ensure all electrical installations comply with local and international codes (e.g., BS, IEC, NEC) and project specifications.
- Implement and manage quality control procedures, including checklists, inspection requests, and as-built validations.
- Lead testing and commissioning activities for LV, MV systems, generators, UPS, lighting control, fire alarm, and ELV systems.
- Mentor and train site team members on technical standards, safety procedures, and proper installation practices.
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and structural teams to resolve interface and coordination issues.
- Track and report project progress against schedules and work breakdown structures, identifying risks and implementing recovery plans as needed.
- Enforce health, safety, and environmental compliance throughout site operations.
- Attend technical meetings and inspections with clients, consultants, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain clear and complete project documentation, including daily site reports, test reports, redlines, material approvals, and commissioning logs.
- Utilize Microsoft Office for reporting and communication, and AutoCAD for reviewing and marking up electrical layouts and SLDs.
Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.Minimum of 10 years of hands-on site experience in electrical engineering within MEP construction for building, industrial, or infrastructure projects.Experience in West Africa or similar international environments is a strong asset.Expertise in electrical execution, QA / QC, commissioning, and drawing reviews.Strong ability to interpret SLDs, panel schedules, voltage drop calculations, and short circuit studies.Proven experience leading site teams and training junior engineers and technicians.Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.Familiarity with IEC, NEC, or equivalent standards, and robust understanding of safety and quality control procedures.Excellent communication, leadership, and coordination capabilities.Willing and able to relocate full-time to Nigeria, Ghana, or Ivory Coast for project duration.Preferred Candidate Profile :
Technically sharp, organized, and detail-oriented.Comfortable in multi-national, multicultural site environments.Proactive problem-solver with strong field presence.Fluent in English; French is an advantage (especially for Ivory Coast deployments).
