JOB DESCRIPTION – Chef

Location : TODAWAVES Luxury Beach, Eleko

Department : Kitchen / Food & Beverage

Reports To : Operations Manager

1. Job Summary

The Chef is responsible for planning, preparing, and executing high-quality meals for guests at TODAWAVES. The role requires creativity, excellent cooking skills, strict hygiene standards, and efficient coordination of kitchen operations to support a luxury hospitality experience.

2. Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation & Cooking

Prepare, cook, and present meals according to TODAWAVES menu standards.

Ensure food quality, taste, portioning, and presentation are consistent.

Create new dishes or adjust recipes where needed.

Ensure meals are served hot, fresh, and on time.

Kitchen Operations

Organize and manage kitchen workflow during busy hours.

Supervise kitchen assistants and ensure task delegation.

Maintain full stock of kitchen supplies and ingredients.

Monitor equipment functionality and report faults immediately.

Hygiene, Health & Safety

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen at all times.

Ensure compliance with food safety regulations.

Store food properly to avoid spoilage.

Enforce hygiene rules for all kitchen staff.

Planning & Cost Control

Assist in menu planning and cost estimation.

Manage portion control to reduce waste.

Track inventory levels and notify when restocking is needed.

Adhere to budget guidelines and prevent unnecessary expenses.

3. Job Requirements

Education & Experience

SSCE / OND minimum; culinary certification is an advantage.

2–5 years experience as a Chef or Cook in a hotel, restaurant, or resort.

Skills & Competencies

Strong cooking and presentation skills.

Time management and ability to work under pressure.

Creativity and passion for food.

Knowledge of Continental, African, and grill menus (preferred).

Leadership and teamwork abilities.

Excellent hygiene practices.

4. Working Conditions

Long hours, weekends, evenings, and public holidays.

Fast-paced environment.

Physical presence required at the Eleko beach location.
