Production and Material Control (PMC) Trainee

Job Summary

The Production Materials Control (PMC) Officer is responsible for coordinating production planning and ensuring timely availability of raw and packaging materials for uninterrupted manufacturing operations. The role supports effective inventory management, production scheduling, and communication between production, procurement, and warehouse teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and update daily / weekly production schedules in alignment with stock levels.
• Ensure adequate supply and timely issuance of raw and packaging materials to the production floor.
• Prepare and maintain Material Requirement Plans (MRP) for all production SKUs.
• Monitor and document material consumption, returns, and wastage, ensuring accurate reconciliation with warehouse records.
• Track batch production progress and communicate deviations or delays to management promptly.
• Assist in planning and implementing product changeovers to minimize downtime and prevent material mix-up.
• Maintain accurate production and material usage reports, submitting daily and weekly summaries to the Plant Manager.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure materials meet quality and hygiene standards before production use.
• Monitor inventory turnover rates and recommend optimal reorder points for high-use materials.
• Support the implementation of lean manufacturing and cost control measures to enhance material efficiency.
• Participate in cycle counts and weekly & monthly stock audits with warehouse and finance teams.
• Liaise with maintenance and production supervisors to ensure readiness of machines and materials for scheduled runs.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waste, downtime, and lead time.
• Supervise and coordinate the production activities and warehouse support staff to ensure timely material flow and adherence to production schedules.
• Ensure space management including cleanliness and arrangement of the production floor

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Fresh graduates with 1–2 years’ experience, who are willing to learn and grow within a manufacturing environment, especially those living along the Eputu–Ibeju-Lekki axis, are encouraged to apply.
