The Role
As a Tax Advisor 1, you will support the firm's tax compliance, planning, and reporting functions.You will work closely with the finance team to navigate the complexities of tax laws within the shipping and logistics industry.Key Responsibilities
Compliance : Prepare and file monthly and annual tax returns, including VAT, Withholding Tax (WHT), and Company Income Tax (CIT).Advisory : Provide internal guidance on the tax implications of shipping contracts and cross-border transactions.Audit Support : Assist in managing tax audits and responding to inquiries from the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) and other relevant authorities.Reporting : Maintain accurate tax records and prepare periodic reports on tax liabilities and payments.Regulatory Tracking : Stay updated on changes in Nigerian tax laws and international maritime tax treaties.Qualifications & Requirements
We are looking for a candidate with a strong foundational knowledge of Nigerian tax laws and a commitment to professional excellence.Education : HND or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.Professional Certification : Being a Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) licensed practitioner is strongly preferred.Experience : Minimum of 1 year of post-license experience in a tax-focused role.Industry Knowledge : Familiarity with the shipping or logistics sector is an added advantage.Skills : Strong analytical abilities, proficiency in accounting software, and excellent communication skills.
