Senior Software Engineer – Recruiting World Wide

Responsibilities

• Technical Leadership: You’ll set strategic direction and drive successful delivery of high impact products built on Pngme’s unique data infrastructure, which currently peaks at 5k events/second and processes billions of events. You’ll evolve Pngme’s data infrastructure to meet emerging needs and own architectural changes spanning multiple systems without downtime.
• Technical Expertise: You’ll apply your broad technical experience spanning backend distributed systems, full stack web apps, data analysis and visualizations, operationalizing predictive regression models, identity and authentication/authorization, cloud infrastructure, Android SDK development, and enterprise cybersecurity to develop software for Pngme.
• Effective Communication : You’ll articulate complex technical concepts and drive alignment across cross-functional teams.
• Management and Collaboration: You’ll collaborate with stakeholders to translate objectives from our product roadmap into actionable engineering requirements. Lead with humility and the ability to manage diverse personalities. Foster an engaging and collaborative environment that supports both technical skill growth and team cohesion.
• Innovation Through Data: You’ll collaborate closely with our product team to create innovative products. While not requiring a full-time data science focus, your exposure to data science methodologies and tools will enhance the team’s ability to build data-centric products.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Proven track record leading engineering teams and working with big data.
• Demonstrated history of significant technical contributions to complex systems.
• Working understanding of software architecture, object oriented design, and functional programming best practices.
• Advanced modern Python language skills, including strong typing, packaging, and experience with data science toolkits (Pandas, XGBoost, Matplotlib).
• Experience managing and scaling cloud infrastructure including establishing infra to support new systems.
• Strong distributed systems experience building, scaling, and debugging data infrastructure including ETL pipelines and REST APIs.
• Experience with identity management and access controls for multi-tenant systems.
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical decisions effectively.
• Time Zone overlaps at least 5 working hours with West Africa Time (WAT) and East Africa Time (EAT) to facilitate effective communication and collaboration with team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience building and operationalizing machine learning models (XGBoost) including feature engineering, cross validation, and hyperparameter optimization.
• DevOps experience including designing maintainable testing strategies and automating CI/CD (GitHub Actions) with code linting, type checking, etc.
• Experience building full stack web applications using React (Typescript) backed by REST APIs (Python, AWS API Gateway, Lambda).
• Experience with Android SDK development including testing with app emulation.
• Background in fintech, banking, or B2B SaaS strongly preferred.

100k-175k USD per annum
