Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Mid-Level to Senior DevOps Engineer to design, implement, manage, and optimise our infrastructure and deployment pipelines. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with Linux systems administration, Kubernetes, Docker, networking, CI/CD automation, Docker Compose, and Traefik.
You will work closely with software developers and engineering teams to build reliable, secure, scalable, and maintainable infrastructure across development, staging, and production environments. You should be comfortable troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, automating repetitive operational tasks, and taking ownership of production deployments.
Requirements
1. INFRASTRUCTURE AND LINUX ADMINISTRATION
Ø Provision, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux servers in cloud and on-premises environments.
Ø Manage system services, processes, storage, permissions, resource utilisation, and operating system performance.
Ø Diagnose system-level issues involving CPU, memory, disk I/O, processes, logs, and network connectivity.
Ø Implement infrastructure automation, configuration management, backup strategies, and disaster recovery procedures.
Ø Apply operating system updates, security patches, hardening practices, and access controls.
2. CONTAINERISATION AND ORCHESTRATION
Ø Build, optimise, and maintain Docker images and Dockerfiles using industry best practices.
Ø Manage multi-container applications using Docker Compose.
Ø Deploy, operate, and troubleshoot Kubernetes workloads, including Deployments, StatefulSets, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Ingress, and persistent storage.
Ø Manage Kubernetes networking, resource requests and limits, health probes, autoscaling, and application rollouts.
Ø Troubleshoot container failures, image pull errors, resource exhaustion, scheduling issues, and service connectivity.
Ø Implement container image optimisation, versioning, registry management, and secure image distribution.
3. NETWORKING AND TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT
Ø Configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP networking, DNS, routing, subnetting, firewalls, NAT, and network connectivity.
Ø Manage reverse proxies, load balancing, TLS certificates, and HTTP/HTTPS traffic routing using Traefik.
Ø Configure Traefik routers, services, middlewares, entry points, and certificate management.
Ø Troubleshoot connectivity across containers, Kubernetes clusters, cloud networks, and on-premises environments.
Ø Implement secure private networking, VPN connectivity, network segmentation, and access restrictions.
Ø Understand how to diagnose common issues involving ports, DNS resolution, TLS handshakes, routing, and firewall rules.
4. CI/CD AND DEPLOYMENT AUTOMATION
Ø Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, or Jenkins.
Ø Automate application builds, testing, container image publishing, and deployments across development, staging, and production.
Ø Implement environment-specific configuration, secret management, and secure deployment practices.
Ø Develop reliable release strategies, including rolling deployments, rollback procedures, and controlled production releases.
Ø Integrate automated code quality checks, vulnerability scanning, and container security scanning into CI/CD pipelines.
Ø Troubleshoot build failures, dependency issues, deployment errors, and pipeline performance bottlenecks.
5. MONITORING, LOGGING, AND RELIABILITY
Ø Implement infrastructure and application monitoring, centralised logging, and alerting.
Ø Work with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, or equivalent observability platforms.
Ø Monitor resource utilisation, service health, availability, and application performance.
Ø Investigate production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive measures.
Ø Establish operational runbooks, service health checks, backup validation, and recovery procedures.
6. SECURITY AND OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE
Ø Apply infrastructure security best practices, least-privilege access, and secure credential management.
Ø Manage secrets, SSH access, TLS certificates, firewall policies, and container security.
Ø Support vulnerability management and remediation across operating systems, dependencies, and container images.
Ø Document infrastructure architectures, deployment procedures, troubleshooting guides, and operational standards.
Ø Identify opportunities to reduce infrastructure costs, improve system reliability, and eliminate manual operational work.
Ø Participate in incident response, technical reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS ROLE IS FULLY ONSITE IN ABUJA.
