Job Summary

• The Junior Accountant will assist the Finance and Accounts Department with the day-to-day financial operations of the hotel.
• The role involves maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling hotel revenue, monitoring expenses, processing invoices, and supporting the preparation of financial reports.
• The Junior Accountant must demonstrate accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and good attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Record and maintain daily financial transactions of the hotel.
• Assist in reconciling daily hotel revenue from rooms, restaurant, bar, events, and other departments.
• Verify daily sales reports, cash collections, POS transactions, and payment records.
• Assist with bank and cash reconciliations.
• Process and record supplier invoices, receipts, and payment requests.
• Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Assist with tracking outstanding guest and corporate accounts.
• Prepare and maintain cashbooks, journals, ledgers, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with payroll preparation and staff financial records.
• Monitor departmental expenses and assist in controlling costs.
• Assist with monthly financial closing and preparation of management accounts.
• Ensure all financial documents are properly authorized, recorded, and filed.
• Assist with stock and inventory reconciliation where required.
• Support internal and external audits by providing requested documents and records.
• Ensure compliance with hotel accounting procedures and applicable financial regulations.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of the hotel's financial information.
• Report accounting discrepancies or unusual transactions to the Chief Accountant.
• Perform other accounting duties assigned by management.

Qualifications & Requirements

• B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Experience with hotel accounting or POS systems is an advantage.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• High level of honesty, integrity, and confidentiality.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
