Job Summary
- We are seeking a responsible, detail-oriented, and trustworthy Accountant / Accounts Officer to join our hotel’s finance team.
- The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, monitoring daily transactions, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring that the hotel’s accounting activities are properly documented and controlled.
- The ideal candidate should have strong numerical and analytical skills, a high level of integrity, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Record and maintain accurate daily financial transactions and accounting records.
- Monitor hotel revenue, expenses, payments, receipts, and other financial activities.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports as required by management.
- Reconcile bank statements, cash transactions, POS records, and other financial accounts.
- Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable and ensure timely processing of payments and collections.
- Review invoices, receipts, purchase orders, and supporting documents for accuracy and proper authorization.
- Monitor and reconcile cash collections from the Front Office, Restaurant, Bar, and other revenue-generating departments.
- Maintain proper records of petty cash transactions and ensure appropriate documentation for all expenses.
- Assist with payroll preparation by providing accurate financial and employee-related information.
- Monitor expenses and assist management in maintaining effective cost-control measures.
- Support the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and financial statements.
- Identify discrepancies or irregularities in financial records and report them promptly to management.
- Assist with stock and inventory reconciliation where required, particularly for food, beverages, and hotel supplies.
- Maintain organized and confidential financial records for audit and management purposes.
- Liaise with banks, suppliers, auditors, and other relevant parties when necessary.
- Ensure accounting activities are carried out in accordance with company policies and applicable financial requirements.
- Perform other accounting and finance-related duties assigned by management.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Relevant professional accounting qualification or ongoing professional certification is an advantage.
- 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably within the hospitality industry.
- Good knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and reconciliation procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
