• We are looking for a confident and engaging English Teacher with particular strength in Diction, Phonetics, Pronunciation, and Spoken English.
• The successful candidate will teach students how to speak English clearly and confidently, with emphasis on correct pronunciation, articulation, intonation, stress, rhythm, and effective oral communication. The teacher will also deliver the broader English Language curriculum and prepare students for internal and external examinations.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English Language, Diction, and Spoken English lessons.
• Place strong emphasis on correct pronunciation, articulation, phonetics, stress, rhythm, and intonation.
• Train students to speak English clearly, confidently, and appropriately in different situations.
• Identify and correct common pronunciation and speech errors.
• Develop students’ vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
• Conduct regular Diction and Oral English practice sessions.
• Prepare students for oral examinations and other assessments requiring effective spoken English.
• Develop students’ confidence in public speaking, presentations, debates, speeches, and formal communication.
• Teach grammar, comprehension, composition, vocabulary, and other aspects of the English curriculum.
• Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, assignments, tests, and examinations.
• Assess students’ academic and oral communication progress and maintain accurate records.
• Provide additional support to students who require improvement in pronunciation, speech, or language skills.
• Use engaging activities such as role-play, debates, presentations, reading aloud, pronunciation drills, and speech exercises.
• Prepare students effectively for internal and external examinations.
• Maintain excellent classroom management and create a stimulating learning environment.
• Promote good reading habits and effective communication.
• Use appropriate technology and digital resources to enhance language learning.
• Participate in school programmes, competitions, literary activities, and co-curricular events.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and communicate professionally with parents and school management.
• Support the school’s commitment to academic excellence, discipline, character formation, and service.

Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in English, English Language, Literature in English, Education (English), Linguistics, or a related field.
• A recognised teaching qualification is an advantage.
• TRCN certification or eligibility for registration is an advantage.
• Previous teaching experience, preferably in a secondary school.
• Strong knowledge of the Nigerian English Language curriculum.
• Excellent spoken English and demonstrably strong diction.
• Strong knowledge of phonetics, pronunciation, oral English, and speech development.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to model correct pronunciation and articulate speech to students.
• Confidence in coaching students in public speaking and oral communication.
• Good classroom management skills.
• Good ICT skills and willingness to integrate technology into teaching.
• A passion for helping students become confident, articulate, and effective communicators.
