Nursery Teacher

Job Description

• Plan and deliver age-appropriate lessons and activities that support children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development.
  
• Create a safe, welcoming and stimulating classroom environment that encourages learning, creativity and positive behavior.
  
• Teach foundational skills such as letters, numbers, colors, shapes, phonics, basic literacy and numeracy through engaging activities.
  
• Use play-based learning, storytelling, songs, art, games and practical activities to make learning enjoyable and effective.
  
• Monitor and assess each child’s development, learning progress and individual needs.
  
• Maintain accurate records of children’s attendance, development, behavior and academic progress.
  
• Provide appropriate support and encouragement to children who may require additional assistance with learning or social development.
  
• Promote good manners, personal hygiene, independence, sharing, teamwork and respect for others.
  
• Supervise children always and ensure their safety during classroom activities, break periods, meals and outdoor play.
  
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding children’s progress, behavior and general wellbeing.
  
• Work collaboratively with other teachers and school staff to support the overall development and wellbeing of the children.
  
• Prepare classroom materials, teaching aids, displays and learning resources.
  
• Participate in school events, meetings, training sessions and extracurricular activities.
  
• Follow school policies, procedures and safeguarding requirements.
  
• Maintain a clean, organized and child-friendly classroom.
  
• Identify and report any concerns relating to a child’s health, safety, behavior or development to the appropriate school authority.
  
• Continuously develop teaching skills and stay informed about effective early-years teaching practices.
  

Requirements

Important: Priority will be given to candidates who live within close proximity to Ikeja/Ogba, as accommodation is not available for this position.

Requirements
Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor's Degree, NCE, or equivalent qualification in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related field. Previous experience teaching in a nursery or early years setting is preferred. Strong understanding of child development and early childhood learning principles. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Passion for working with young children.
