Job description
In partnership with our client, we are seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead, manage, and operationalise the organisation’s work in growing a healthy, well-functioning impact investing ecosystem in Nigeria. This role suits a visionary, hands-on leader who is as comfortable shaping national policy as they are managing day-to-day organisational operations.   • You lead with strong ethics and a genuine commitment to good governance.
Your Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership
  • You will set and drive the organisation’s strategic direction in line with its mission to grow Nigeria’s impact investing ecosystem.
  • You will translate strategy into actionable, measurable annual and multi-year plans.
  • You will lead the Secretariat function for the National Advisory Board for Impact Investing (NABII), ensuring alignment between the organisation’s programming and national policy priorities.
Partnership and Stakeholder Engagement
  • You will serve as the organisation’s principal representative to government, regulators, donors, investors, and civil society.
  • You will build and sustain relationships across the impact investing ecosystem, including with global and regional impact investing networks.
  • You will represent the organisation at national and international policy forums and industry convenings.
Fundraising and Financial Management
  • You will design and implement resource-mobilisation strategies to diversify and grow the organisation’s funding base.
  • You will cultivate and manage relationships with donors and development partners, including foundations and bilateral/multilateral agencies.
  • You will oversee grant reporting and donor compliance across the funding portfolio, and manage the annual budget to ensure financial integrity and accountability.
Advocacy and Policy Influence
  • You will lead engagement with government on policy and regulatory reform to strengthen Nigeria’s impact investing environment.
  • You will represent the organisation’s positions in engagements with the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Securities and Exchange Commission, PENCom, and other relevant regulators, ministries, departments and agencies.
  • You will champion evidence-based policy recommendations arising from research and convening work.
Programme Development and Oversight
  • You will develop new programmes in alignment with the organisation’s mandate and strategy, and provide oversight of existing flagship programmes.
  • You will ensure programmes are delivered to a high standard, on budget, and with measurable impact.
  • You will champion impact measurement and management (IMM) practices across the organisation’s work.
  • Governance, Risk and Compliance
  • You will ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable regulatory and reporting obligations.
  • You will support the Board of Trustees and its Committees with timely, accurate reporting and decision-quality information.
  • You will oversee financial management and risk mitigation across the organisation.
Team Management
  • You will lead, develop, and manage the Secretariat, fostering a high-performing, values-driven team culture.
  • You will ensure the Secretariat is appropriately structured and resourced to deliver the organisation’s strategy, with clear roles, responsibilities, and professional development pathways.
What Success looks like:
  • Deliver the organisation’s strategic and annual plans with clear, measurable progress against targets.
  • Diversify the funding base and grow the resource pool year on year through successful fundraising campaigns.
  • Achieve 100% compliance with regulatory and donor reporting obligations, with no lapses.
  • Deliver flagship programmes on budget and on schedule, with demonstrable impact.
  • Strengthen policy influence, evidenced by tangible regulatory or policy wins.
  • Build a stable, high-performing Secretariat team with clear structure and growth pathways.
To be considered for this role you should have:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Development Studies, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in senior leadership roles, ideally within impact investing, development finance, or ecosystem-building organisations.
  • A proven track record of building multi-stakeholder partnerships spanning government, investors, and donors.
  • Experience leading fundraising campaigns and managing multi-year budgets.
  • Experience representing an organisation at national or international policy forums.
  • Strong understanding of Nigeria’s regulatory landscape, including the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Debt Management Office, the Financial Reporting Council, PENCom, and relevant Ministries.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with impact measurement and management (IMM) frameworks is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of ecosystem-building models, or prior experience in Nigeria’s nonprofit governance environment, is a plus.
