The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and continuous reliability of all mechanical equipment and utility systems within the facility. The role supports uninterrupted production by ensuring the optimal performance of slaughter and processing equipment, conveyors, hoists, refrigeration systems, boilers, compressors, rendering equipment, wastewater treatment systems, and other critical plant infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and plant utilities.
Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical faults to minimize operational downtime.
Monitor equipment performance and recommend reliability improvements.
Participate in planned shutdowns, equipment overhauls, and commissioning activities.
Maintain maintenance records, work orders, and equipment history logs.
Ensure compliance with food safety, occupational health and safety, and environmental requirements.
Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing equipment availability and operational efficiency.
Requirements
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and fault-diagnosis skills.
Knowledge of industrial maintenance practices and reliability systems.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, manuals, and technical specifications.
Understanding of maintenance planning and preventive maintenance programs.
Qualifications
OND/HND or Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 3–5 years' experience in industrial maintenance, preferably within food processing, manufacturing, Fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), or heavy industrial environments.
Experience working with refrigeration, processing, or utility systems will be an added advantage.
