Our client is a leading agricultural engineering and development company focused on building the infrastructure that enables the growth of Nigeria's agricultural industry. Their work spans aquaculture, crop production, livestock, cassava processing, and flexible packaging — with flagship projects including the Lagos Aquaculture Centre of Excellence (LACE) and the Cassadel cassava processing plant in Delta State.
They operate at the intersection of government partnership, private sector execution, and smallholder farmer impact. As they scale across multiple active project sites, they are investing in the human capital infrastructure to match their operational ambition.
This is a strategic HR Manager position responsible for building and managing the people function across the organisation. You will own the full employee lifecycle — from workforce planning and recruitment to performance management, compliance, and culture development. The role reports directly to leadership and is expected to design and implement the HR systems that will support the company's growth from 50+ employees to a significantly larger workforce across multiple locations.
Design and implement HR policies, procedures, and systems aligned with the company's operational goals and values
Lead end-to-end recruitment and talent acquisition across technical, operational, and administrative roles
Develop and manage performance management frameworks, including KPIs, appraisal cycles, and feedback mechanisms
Oversee compensation and benefits administration, ensuring market competitiveness and internal equity
Ensure compliance with Nigerian labour law, employee regulations, and health and safety requirements across all project sites
Drive employee engagement, retention, and culture-building initiatives
Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, and grievance handling
Support leadership with organisational design and workforce planning as the company scales
Coordinate training and development programmes to build internal capability
Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field
Professional HR certification (CIPM, CIPD, SHRM, or PHRI) is required
5–8 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
Experience in manufacturing, agriculture, production, or project-based environments is strongly preferred
Deep working knowledge of Nigerian labour law and employment regulations
Demonstrated experience building HR systems from scratch or improving existing ones
Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills
High integrity, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive information
Comfortable working across multiple locations and with a mix of office-based, site-based, and field-based employees
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field
A Master's degree in HR Management, Business Administration (MBA), or Organisational Psychology is an advantage
CIPM (Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria)
CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development)
SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP (Society for Human Resource Management)
PHRI or SPHRI (HR Certification Institute)
ACIPM or MCIPM
5–8 years of progressive human resources experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role
Experience in manufacturing, agriculture, agribusiness, production, FMCG, or project-based environments is strongly preferred
Demonstrated experience building or significantly improving HR systems, policies, and processes
Experience managing HR across multiple locations or project sites is a significant advantage
Working knowledge of Nigerian labour law, employee regulations, and industrial relations
Experience with recruitment for both technical/operational roles (plant workers, site supervisors) and professional/corporate roles
Strong proficiency in HR information systems and HR management software
Competence in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace
Experience with payroll administration and compensation management
Knowledge of performance management frameworks and tools
Understanding of health, safety, and environment (HSE) compliance in industrial/agricultural settings
Strategic workforce planning and organisational design capability
Strong recruitment and talent acquisition skills across multiple levels
Excellent employee relations and conflict resolution ability
High integrity and absolute discretion with confidential information
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
Ability to influence leadership and drive people strategy
Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-site environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Coaching and mentoring capability — able to develop people managers across the organisation
Cultural sensitivity and the ability to manage a diverse workforce (office-based, site-based, field-based)
Based in Lagos, Nigeria
Willingness to travel to project sites across Nigeria as required
Net monthly salary: NGN 750,000
