Role Overview
As the Executive Assistant to Surge Africa's director, you will provide high-level administrative, organisational, and strategic support to the Director of Surge Africa. You will serve as a key coordination point, helping to manage the Director's time, communications, and priorities while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. This role requires discretion, initiative, and strong judgment.Responsibilities
Provide direct administrative and executive support to the DirectorManage the Director's calendar, scheduling meetings, appointments, and remindersDraft, review, and format correspondence, reports, briefs, and presentationsAct as a liaison between the Director and internal / external stakeholdersPrepare agendas, attend meetings as required, and take accurate minutesTrack action items and follow up to ensure timely executionSupport planning and coordination of board meetings, strategy sessions, and external engagementsManage confidential information with a high level of professionalism and discretionAssist with travel planning, logistics, and virtual meeting coordinationMaintain organised digital filing and document management systemsSupport special projects and perform other related duties as assigned by the DirectorOther duties ancillary to the above.Skills and Qualifications
Minimum of 35 years' experience providing executive or senior administrative supportProven experience supporting a senior leader or executive in a fast-paced environmentStrong organisational, time-management, and prioritisation skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsHigh level of discretion, professionalism, and attention to detailStrong competency in digital tools, calendars, document management systems, and virtual workspacesAbility to work independently, anticipate needs, and exercise sound judgmentAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlinesInterest in or understanding of climate change, development, or nonprofit work is an advantage.
