Job Summary
The Sales Engineer is responsible for driving revenue growth through proactive business development, technical consultation, and relationship management within the construction and heavy equipment industry. The role requires a blend of engineering expertise and strategic sales acumen to identify opportunities, deliver tailored equipment solutions, and support clients throughout the sales and after-sales lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Sales
Identify and pursue new sales opportunities within target industries such as construction, mining, oil & gas, and infrastructure.
Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve revenue targets and market share growth.
Build and nurture strong, long-term relationships with key clients, contractors, and decision-makers.
Prepare, present, and negotiate proposals, quotations, and contracts that align with client requirements and company policies.
Deliver persuasive sales presentations and equipment demonstrations to prospective clients.
Meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
2. Technical Consultation & Support
Analyze client needs and recommend suitable construction equipment, ensuring optimal technical and financial solutions.
Provide expert advice on equipment specifications, configurations, and applications based on project requirements.
Conduct on-site assessments and technical evaluations to determine appropriate machinery for specific operations.
Collaborate with service and technical teams to ensure smooth installation, commissioning, and operational support.
Offer after-sales assistance, including troubleshooting, maintenance coordination, and customer satisfaction follow-up.
3. Market & Product Knowledge
Maintain a deep understanding of construction machinery, equipment specifications, and industry technologies.
Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies to identify potential business opportunities.
Gather market intelligence and customer feedback to inform product improvements and business strategy.
Support marketing efforts through participation in trade shows, exhibitions, and promotional campaigns.
4. Reporting & Coordination
Prepare and submit detailed reports on sales performance, forecasts, and market insights to management.
Coordinate closely with internal departments such as logistics, finance, and service to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, quotations, and transactions in the company’s CRM system.
Contribute to regular sales meetings, strategy sessions, and product training workshops.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in sales or business development within the construction equipment, heavy machinery, or industrial equipment sector.
Strong technical understanding of construction equipment, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.
Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with CRM tools.
Strong customer orientation, self-motivation, and results-driven mindset.
Willingness to travel frequently for client visits, site assessments, and business meetings.
