My client, a leading multinational chemical trading and distribution company, is seeking an exceptional Commercial Director to drive commercial strategy, revenue growth, and market expansion across Nigeria. What You’ll Do
Lead Commercial Strategy : Develop and execute the country’s commercial roadmap in alignment with global business objectives.
Drive Sales & Market Growth : Identify new market opportunities, expand customer portfolios, and optimize sales performance across all channels.
Own the Commercial P&L : Oversee budget planning, forecasting, cost optimization, and financial performance to ensure profitability.
Manage High-Value Accounts : Supervise major contracts and key accounts, ensuring exceptional service delivery and maximum financial returns.
Lead & Develop Teams : Coach, mentor, and grow the commercial and sales coordination teams to deliver world-class performance.
Strengthen Negotiations : Lead high-stakes negotiations on trading terms, long-term contracts, and strategic commercial agreements.
Enhance Policies & Processes : Design and improve commercial policies, workflows, and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Collaborate Internally : Work closely with logistics, finance, supply chain, and global commercial teams to ensure seamless operations.
Ensure Compliance : Uphold strict adherence to Nigerian regulations and the company’s integrated management system.
Requirements
Who You Are
10–15 years of progressive experience in commercial roles within the international chemical trading industry.
Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role (Senior Commercial Manager, Sales Director, etc.).
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related fields. (MBA is a strong advantage.)
Proven success in developing commercial strategies that drive revenue, market share, and profitability.
Strong leadership capabilities with demonstrated experience managing and developing high-performing commercial teams.
Excellent P&L management skills, with deep financial literacy and forecasting capability.
Outstanding negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, particularly with complex, high-value contracts.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Deep understanding of international trade standards, documentation, and the specific logistics and handling requirements for chemicals.
