Head of Metering Department

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Head of Metering Department to lead our company's core operations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with a deep technical understanding of the metering industry, from manufacturing and assembly to deployment and long-term asset management. This role is crucial for ensuring operational excellence, driving innovation, and maintaining our position as a leader in Nigeria’s energy sector.
As the Head of Metering, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the department, including production, quality assurance, inventory, technical support, and field operations. You will be instrumental in developing and executing strategies that align with the company's growth objectives while ensuring all products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic and Operational Leadership :
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the metering department that aligns with the company's business goals and market demands.
- Oversee daily operations of the metering department, including production, assembly, testing, and quality control.
- Manage the department’s budget, resources, and staffing to ensure efficiency and profitability.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
- Develop and implement the company’s metering strategy in line with market opportunities and regulatory frameworks (MAP / NMMP).
- Technical and Product Management :
- Serve as the primary technical expert for all metering solutions, including conventional, smart, and prepayment meters.
- Lead product innovation and R&D efforts in collaboration with the engineering team to keep our product offerings competitive.
- Ensure all products comply with national and international standards and regulations (e.g., Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission - NERC, Standards Organization of Nigeria - SON, MAP and NMMP).
- Quality Assurance and Control :
- Establish and enforce rigorous quality assurance protocols throughout the entire production and assembly process.
- Oversee testing and certification procedures to ensure all meters are accurate, durable, and reliable.
- Address and resolve any technical issues or product failures in the field.
- Supply Chain and Inventory Management :
- Manage the procurement of raw materials and components, ensuring a stable and cost-effective supply chain.
- Supervise inventory control to prevent stockouts and minimize waste.
- Coordinate with the sales and marketing teams to forecast demand and plan production schedules accordingly.
- Business Development & Market Growth
- Drive sales growth by building partnerships with DisCos, government agencies, regulators, and large-scale users.
- Oversee dealer and distributor network development to expand market penetration.
- Negotiate high-value sales and strategic partnerships.
- Represent the company at high-level industry forums, regulatory engagements, and exhibitions.
Required Qualifications and Skills
A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field. A Master's degree is a plus.Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in the metering or related energy sector, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or management role.Demonstrated expertise in meter technology, including assembly, testing, and field deployment.Proven track record of managing a team and leading operational improvements.Strong knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices in Nigeria and internationally.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Strategic thinker with the ability to manage complex projects and drive results.What We Offer
