About the Role :
The Learning & Development Officer is responsible for designing, coordinating, and delivering training programs that
build the skills, capability, and performance of retail field teams. The role focuses on driving productivity, compliance,
customer experience, and career development across the retail workforce.
Training Needs Analysis
- Identify learning and skills gaps across retail roles
- Work with line managers to understand performance challenges and training requirements.
Onboarding & Induction
Coordinate onboarding programs for new hires.Ensure new employees understand company policies, safety, and performance expectations.Learning Content Curation & Foundation TrainingCurate, update, and manage learning content to ensure relevance, accuracy, and alignment with businessneeds.
Ensure all Foundation / mandatory training courses are completed by employees within the stipulatedtimelines.
Track completion status, follow up with employees and line managers, and escalate delays where necessary.Maintain accurate records of foundation training completion for audit and compliance purposes.Field Coaching & Support
Conduct field visits to observe performance and provide coaching.Support supervisors in delivering on-the-job training and coaching.Learning Administration
Maintain training records and attendance logs.Track training completion and certification status.Manage training calendars and logistics.Performance & Impact Measurement
Evaluate training effectiveness using KPIs such as sales uplift, compliance scores, and productivity.Collect feedback to continuously improve training programs.Compliance & Standards
Ensure all training aligns with Nigeria Labor laws, health & safety, and company SOPs.support audit and compliance with requirements through proper training documentation.Provide first-level support for Smollan’s Learning Experience Platform (LXP) and related learning software.Troubleshoot and resolve user challenges related to the LXP and training systems.Liaise with internal IT teams or external vendors to escalate and resolve technical issues where required.Ensure smooth user adoption and effective utilization of learning platforms across NigeriaStakeholder Collaboration
Work closely with the People team, Operations, and Business Managers.Liaise with external training providers when required.
