Job Description: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)-E.D. Finance(Ogun/Lagos)

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer / Group Managing Director

Location: Ogun / Lagos, Nigeria (with periodic visits to plant and farm locations)


Position Overview

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, responsible for providing strategic financial direction, strengthening financial discipline, and ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of the organization. The ideal candidate will provide strategic finance guidance at the board level. The CFO will oversee all financial operations—planning, reporting, treasury, tax, audit, risk management, and investor relations—while supporting ongoing expansion projects, ESG initiatives, and capital raising activities.


Key Responsibilities

A. Strategic Leadership & Business Planning

• Lead the development of the company’s long-term financial strategy and annual operating plans.

• Provide financial insights to support decision-making across feed milling, poultry operations, veterinary services (drugs and vaccines), laboratories, retail outlets, and distribution.

• Drive profitability and long-term value creation across all business units, growing EBITDA margins.

• Support expansion projects, digital transformation, backward integration, and efficiency improvement initiatives.

• Engage external financial advisors on strategic fund raising options to deliver growth and long term value creation for the organization (Equity, Debt, Commercial papers and other strategic instruments)


B. Financial Management & Reporting

• Oversee timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in compliance with IFRS and statutory regulations.

• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across all departments.

• Strengthen internal financial controls, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and accountability.

• Implement cost-control systems to reduce waste and improve margins.


C. Treasury & Cashflow Management

• Manage liquidity, cashflow forecasting, and working capital optimization.

• Oversee bank relationships and negotiate favorable terms for loans, credit lines, and trade finance.

• Ensure efficient allocation of funds across production, procurement, and expansion projects.

• Ensure professionalism while engaging with institutional providers of finances such as bank and other strategic lenders or trade creditors


D. Risk Management, Audit & Compliance

• Lead enterprise risk management across operational, financial, regulatory, and market risks.

• Oversee internal and external audits; ensure compliance with financial laws and tax regulations.

• Establish and enforce financial policies, SOPs, and standard controls across the organization.

• Ensure optimal credit and financing corporate policies and procedures are in

place to ensure attainment of financial objectives

• Maintain and update corporate finance policies and procedures


E. Capital Raising & Investor Relations

• Lead fundraising efforts including equity, debt, grants, and concessional financing.

• Coordinate engagement with investors, foundations, banks, DFIs, and potential partners (local and international).

• Prepare investor reports, presentations, business cases, and financial models.


F. Operational Support

• Collaborate with operations, supply chain, production, and sales teams to assess and improve efficiency.

• Provide financial oversight for procurement, inventory, stocktaking processes, and asset optimization.

• Ensure robust financial systems to support digitization and process automation.


G. ESG & Sustainability Finance

• Align finance systems with ESG reporting standards.

• Support green financing, carbon impact assessments, and sustainability- linked operational improvements.


H. Leadership & People Management

• Lead and mentor the finance and accounts team across multiple locations.

• Build capacity and ensure continuous professional development within the finance department.

• Foster a culture of integrity, accountability, and high performance.

• Plan and coordinate annual budget or executive leadership retreats for financial alignment across all divisions


Qualifications & Experience

Educational Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field.

• Master’s degree (MBA or related) is an added advantage.

Professional Certifications

• ACA, ACCA, CFA, or similar recognized professional qualification.


Experience

• Minimum of 10–15 years financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior executive position.

• Experience in agribusiness, manufacturing, FMCG, livestock/poultry, or related industries is highly desirable.

• Demonstrated experience in financial modeling, capital raising, investor engagement, and strategic planning.

• Proficient in financial software, ERP systems, and digital reporting tools.

• Ability to manage complexity in a fast-growing and operationally intensive business.

• Strong understanding of supply chain dynamics, cost structures, and operational finance.

• Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.

• Improvement in cashflow, working capital, and cost efficiency.

• ESG compliance and sustainability reporting accuracy.

• Team development and improvement in financial processes.

• Management of financing costs for the organization
