About the role

As a Senior Legal & Compliance Counsel at KingMakers, you will be a key partner to the business by providing expert legal guidance across corporate, commercial and regulatory matters.

You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams (tax, finance, compliance, HR), engage with regulators and external counsel, and help ensure good governance and legal risk management in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Provide legal advice on corporate transactions and operational matters in Nigeria and, where needed, across the Group.
• Support regulatory engagement : stakeholder meetings, report submissions, compliance with tax and levies.
• Collaborate with corporate service providers and internal tax and finance teams.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements (leases, forex, supplier contracts, etc.).
• Update and maintain legal templates, including employment agreements.
• Handle IP-related matters, including cease and desist letters.
• Support company secretarial duties and ensure compliance with corporate governance requirements.
• Lead or support on AML and data protection audits and submissions.
• Manage escalated disputes and litigation, including engagement with law enforcement where required.
• Oversee regulatory filings with SCUML (CTR, CBTR, FTR).
• Manage supplier and regulatory KYC processes and due diligence projects.
• Train and mentor junior legal staff.
• Liaise with and coordinate external legal counsel.
