ROLE SUMMARY
The Curriculum & Learning Instructional Designer works directly with Tuteria’s Star Teachers to design, refine, and implement high-quality exam-prep curricula and learning materials. You will serve as the academic engine behind each subject, ensuring every topic, lesson, quiz, diagnostic, and learning activity is expertly structured, data-driven, and
instructionally sound.
You will help translate the deep expertise of our Star Teachers into a scalable, engaging, academically rigorous learning system used by thousands of students across Nigeria and beyond.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Curriculum Design & Learning Architecture
∙Collaborate with Star Teachers to design complete exam-prep curricula aligned with UTME, WAEC, IGCSE, NECO, Checkpoint, SAT, Common Entrance, and other exam standards.
∙Develop clear Learning Outcomes Hierarchies for every topic, subtopic, and skill.
∙Sequence lessons logically to ensure cumulative knowledge building and mastery.
∙Design high-impact learning journeys that guide students from diagnosis ➝ remediation ➝ mastery, ➝ exam readiness.
2. Instructional Material Development
∙Create lesson frameworks, detailed lesson guides, and teaching slides that support engaging and practical instruction.
∙Develop practice sets, assignments, worksheets, flashcards, case studies, and real-exam-style questions for each topic.
∙Write high-quality study notes, summaries, and structured revision packs.
∙Ensure every item produced meets academic, pedagogical, and cognitive-rigour standards.
3. Assessment & Diagnostics
∙Build diagnostic tests that measure baseline knowledge across all topics.
∙Create item banks of quizzes, practice questions, timed drills, mock exams, and mastery checks.
∙Apply psychometric and data-driven principles to ensure validity, difficulty gradation, and content balance.
∙Analyse student performance data to refine content and identify learning gaps and patterns.
4. Platform Development & Content Operations
∙Populate curriculum content into the TuteriaPrep platform, ensuring accuracy, structure, and usability.
∙Tag questions and lessons using Tuteria’s internal tagging taxonomy (topic → subtopic → skill → difficulty → cognitive level).
∙Ensure all content is consistent with instructional design best practices and platform requirements.
5. Learning Experience & Engagement
∙Design learning experiences that are interactive, visually engaging, and student-centred.
∙Work with media teams to turn content into compelling videos, graphics, animations, and course assets.
∙Recommend strategies to improve student motivation, retention, and academic outcomes.
6. Collaboration & Quality Control
∙Work hand-in-hand with Star Teachers, Product Team, Media Team, and academic
leadership.
∙Conduct ongoing reviews to maintain quality, alignment, and instructional excellence.
∙Provide research-backed recommendations for improvement drawn from international best instructional practices.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Academic Excellence (Non-negotiable)
∙First Class OR strong Second-Class Upper (2 : 1) in a relevant field (undergraduate or postgraduate).
∙Degrees in Education, Curriculum Studies, Instructional Design, or subject-area specializations are an added advantage.
∙Evidence of consistent academic excellence and strong analytical ability.
Professional Competencies
∙Strong knowledge of at least two major exam boards (UTME / WAEC / IGCSE / SAT / NECO).
∙Demonstrable experience in curriculum design, instructional design, or academic content development.
∙Excellent research abilities and comfort working with data and educational metrics.
∙Ability to simplify complex concepts without reducing academic quality.
∙Outstanding writing, documentation, and communication skills.
∙Strong proficiency using tools like Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, and content-authoring tools.
