Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Provide leadership, direction and guidance to subordinates to ensure alignment with the finance unit’s goals and objectives.
Track corporate and functional performance vis-à-vis defined key performance indicators, report variations and propose remedial actions.
Define and oversee the preparation of management reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual), ensuring data accuracy, timeliness and relevance to management decision-making.
Prepare board and board committee reports for CFO’s review.
Oversee financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes, including periodic budget monitoring and variance analysis to ensure compliance and corrective action.
Coordinate the collation and analysis of internal and external information to serve as input into the development of the company’s corporate strategic / marketing plan.
Continuously monitor regulatory activities, industry trends and macroeconomic changes to assess potential impact and inform management decisions.
Provide input and direction in the development of subsidiary and functional strategies.
Oversee the definition of operational and financial parameters / performance indicators against which corporate and functional performances will be measured on an ongoing basis.
Develop and ensure ongoing review and update of the company’s business planning premises and assumptions.
Oversee periodic reviews and updates of the corporate scorecard and benchmark the company’s performance against competition.
Keep track of global and local best practices in corporate strategic / marketing planning and monitoring; identify and report on improvement opportunities for the company.
Champion company’s merger, acquisition, and divestiture initiatives.
Perform due diligence for the company’s merger / acquisition and divestiture initiatives and ensure adequate data / information is made available to enhance management decisions.
Assist the CFO in the management of investor relations.
Provide advisory support to the Treasury function for consideration of effective investment options.
Participate in the development and implementation of marketing and financial models for the organisation to support its finance, marketing, sales and competitive strategies.
Collate and report on resource requirements necessary to sustain, implement and operationalise key strategic imperatives / initiatives and decisions of the organisation.
Coordinate the unit’s activities and ensure compliance with the organisation’s operating policies, controls and procedures.
Conduct periodic performance appraisal sessions with subordinate staff in line with stipulated career and performance management policies and procedures
Serve on committees or cross-functional teams and perform other duties as assigned by the management.
