Project Overview :
The Midwife-led Enterprises Assessment project aims to assess the viability of private, midwife-led enterprises in improving access and uptake of maternal and newborn health services across Africa and Asia. Through a mixed-methods landscape analysis, the project will identify scalable business models, evaluate financial sustainability, and explore how these enterprises enhance women's economic empowerment and integrate with national health systems.Position Summary
We seek experienced health systems researchers to serve as Country Leads for a study examining private midwifery enterprises in Nigeria, Kenya, Bangladesh, Uganda, or Senegal (one position per country). The Country Lead will oversee all in-country stakeholder engagements, research activities, and compliance with ethical and regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for professionals with deep national networks, demonstrated research leadership, and a passion for shaping maternal and newborn health systems.Qualifications
Advanced degree (Master's minimum) in public health, health economics, health policy, midwifery, or related fieldMinimum 7 years of experience in health systems researchDemonstrated experience leading multi-site research studiesEstablished relationships with national health stakeholdersTrack record of successful stakeholder engagement with government and private sectorExperience with mixed-methods research implementation, including KIIs and FGDsKnowledge of national health policies and regulatory frameworksAdditional training in health systems research or implementation scienceAbility to translate research findings into policy recommendationsExperience with health economics research methods, including costing studiesProven ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teamsExcellent written and verbal communication in English (and French in Senegal)Strong presentation skills for policy and academic audiences
